Bicycle Security: Ankylopython

This project represents the culmination of our 3 years study. The project follows the complete Product Design Process as laid down by Cardiff Metropolitan University. It is the student's aim to find a need, present a 1000 word proposal, then once agreed the project goes into the design process culminating in a 12,000 word [max] design report, with for the BSc students, a business plan alongside including costs of manufacture through to selling (which you will see on the product boards).

As a committed cyclist I chose bicycle security. Research was undertaken of the existing marketplace, then 800 bicycles were tagged in London and Cardiff inviting the owners to take part in a questionnaire which found some quite shocking results. Concepts were user-tested and then developed, repeatedly. Finite Element Analysis honed the design, such that an end product can be presented.
